About The Calgary Jewish Academy (CJA):
The Calgary Jewish Academy (CJA) has a proud legacy of over a century in shaping students who contribute to the future of Calgary, Canada, and beyond. Established in 1987 through the merger of the Calgary Hebrew School (1912) and the I.L. Peretz School (1927), CJA serves students from Nursery to Grade 9 in a safe, supportive, and challenging environment. The school fosters Jewish identity and community while delivering a rigorous dual curriculum that integrates the Alberta Curriculum with Judaic Studies.
Position Overview:
CJA is seeking a visionary and dynamic Principal to join the leadership team and work in close collaboration with the Head of School. The Principal will embody the school’s mission and vision, leading efforts to engage, educate, and empower Jewish children. This role requires a strategic thinker and an effective communicator who can uphold and enhance the school’s traditions, relationships, and practices while ensuring academic excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Communicate and implement the school’s strategic and instructional goals across all areas of the institution.
Oversee curriculum development to maintain a high standard of learning that aligns with both the Alberta Curriculum and Judaic Studies.
Foster a collaborative and student-centered educational environment that supports early literacy and numeracy strategies from Kindergarten through Grade 9.
Support and mentor faculty and staff, promoting professional development and leadership growth.
Drive enrollment growth and strengthen community engagement through outreach and strategic planning.
Ensure a holistic educational experience that integrates Jewish values with academic excellence.
Manage learning resources effectively and promote innovative teaching methodologies.
Qualifications and Experience:
A degree in education (Master’s preferred but not required).
Minimum of 10 years of teaching experience, with at least 5 years in senior administrative roles.
Eligibility for Alberta Teacher Certification and Leadership Quality Standards (LQS).
Proven leadership experience in managing and growing an educational institution.
Strong ability to create and implement strategic educational initiatives.
A deep commitment to Jewish education and values.
Exceptional relationship-building skills to foster engagement with students, parents, faculty, and the wider community.
